Headlamp Studios is a full-service video production company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. We specialize in creating character-driven commercials, films, and documentaries about stories that touch the soul.

It all started in 2017 with an idea. The idea that a well-told story can change the world. So, how do you change the world with a story? We've tried expensive cameras. Bigger budgets, bigger crews. Cool VFX. That all makes it more fun, but it’s not the answer.

It’s the eyes and the ears. The mind and the heart. It’s the sense to know when you’re striking a chord with your character, or tugging on a universally relatable thread of truth. Those moments don’t always happen on command - our mission is to be ready for when they do. Rain or shine. Day or night. Our headlamps light the way.

In pursuit of stories that matter, we are known to endure long and demanding shoot days that often start and end in the dark. Headlamp required.

Director

Simon proudly dropped out of college to work in the film industry. He's always pushing for the next creative idea.

Jess Petkow

Producer

Jess comes from a background in biological research. She's highly organized, detail oriented, and somehow keeps us on schedule on set (most of the time).

Will Allen-DuPraw

DP / Photographer

Will is an excellent communicator and creative mind. He usually happens to be the client favorite on set.

Ashton Rasmussen

Editor

Ashton is our in-house Gen Z representative. His sharp creative lens comes through in his edits.

Production Assistant

Andres is our hype man and jack of all trades. You can count on his good attitude and high energy, and MacGyver-esque solutions any day of the week.

Development

Every piece of content starts with an idea. Whether your idea is clear, fuzzy, or non-existent, our creative team will bring it into clarity and develop a strategic concept around it.

Pre-Production

Bringing a concept into reality takes careful planning, logistics, and execution. Our producers manage every detail so you can relax knowing your shoot day will go off without a hitch.

Production

Lights, camera, action. Production day is where all our preparation comes to a head and we capture everything needed to bring your vision to life.

Post

Our team of in-house editors and animators work their magic with the footage captured during production, delivering you a final product ready to publish.

How does your pricing work?

We can generally scale the level of production up or down to meet your budget. With larger budgets, we take more off your plate and produce more creative, original, and effective content. Smaller budgets can also get the job done but with a more limited scope and vision. Reach out through our contact form to get a quick & accurate estimate.

How long does the process take?

The average total duration of a project from kickoff to completion is 6-8 weeks.

How do you handle rescheduling shoot days due to weather?

For outdoor shoots where weather is a concern, we typically schedule a backup day from the start. That gives us the flexibility to adjust and be nimble in case of bad weather.

Do you have capabilities for drone footage?

Drone is always an option and does not carry an additional fee. Our team is fully licensed and insured for commercial drone production. We also have FPV drone capabilities.
